Gerald (“Jerry”) W. Blakeley, III BIOGRAPHY
Jerry is a serial entrepreneur, angel investor and business advisor with over 40 years of business experience in the high tech and environmental science industries in addition to managing the Blakeley Foundation.
The founder and former CEO of Extech Instruments Corp., a manufacturer and supplier of portable printers and test and measurement instruments sold worldwide. Printers and Instruments were made in the USA, China and Taiwan and sold through national industrial and retail distributors.
Jerry has strong strategic management and marketing skills along with New Product Development, Sourcing and Export marketing experience. Sold company to FLIR Systems, a public company in 2007 when revenues were at $48 million.
Jerry lives in Boston, Massachusetts and devotes his time now to making private investments in the biotech and environmental science areas and in performing volunteer work, including:
1) Helping Entrepreneurs plan, start and grow successful businesses through his volunteer work at SCORE (www.score.org) in Boston:
2) Managing the Blakeley Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization setup and funded in 2007. The Foundation (www.blakeleyfoundation.org) supports the popular Blakeley Fellowship program at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University along with Microfinance, women’s health, poverty alleviation and Entrepreneurship programs in the USA, Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America.
Jerry was born in Boston on June 15, 1943 and grew up in Cambridge and Weston, Massachusetts. Jerry went to Fessenden, Avon Old Farms School, and the Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania.
